On Tuesday night the Chants hosted the West Holt Huskies. The Chant's slow start would allow the Huskies to jump to a 20-6 lead. The hot start for the Huskies would continue with them going 8-14 from 3 in the 1st half, which lead to a 39-10 lead at the break. “They took advantage of our mistakes and shot the ball well, putting us in a hole.” Coach Gates said after the game. In the 2nd half, the Huskies would pull away from the Chants for a final of 65-30. The Chants were led by Blake Hinrichs who had 20 points and seven rebounds in the loss.
On Friday night the Chants traveled to Kearney Catholic to take on the Stars. The 1st quarter started with the Stars racing out to a 9-2 lead. The Chants would respond and cut the deficit to 4 before the end of the 1st quarter. In the 2nd quarter, the Chants would overtake the Stars and take a 20-19 lead on a Garret Severence three-pointer. Before both teams ended up knotted at 22-22 at the break. “That was our best overall half of the season.” Coach Gates said after the game. In the 2nd half, the Stars would pull from the Chants winning the half 28-7 on their way to a 50-29 victory. Blake Hinrichs lead the Chants with 13 points and seven rebounds. Garret Severance also added seven points for the Chants. “We got some good looks in the 2nd half that did not go down for us and that allowed them to keep their run going.” Coach Gates said. The Chants will travel to St. Cecilia on Tuesday before traveling to Centura on Saturday.
