Fremont- The 10-1 Chanticleers went on the road for Semi-Final football to Fremont to take on the Fremont Bergan Knights. On a cold windy night, the Chanticleers and Knights would spend the first quarter slugging out it out defensively. Bergan got on the board at the beginning of the second quarter when Koa Mcyntre found his brother Kade in the back of the endzone for the first score of the game to make it 7-0. The Chanticleers moved the ball down the field to get into scoring position on the next drive but didn’t score. The first half ended with the score being 7-0 Bergan. In the second half, the Chanticleers took the wind hoping to get a defensive stop and use the wind to their advantage but the Knights took the ball and went on a 9-minute drive which ended in a 5-Yd touchdown pass and a missed extra point to make the score 13-0. The Chants struggled to get anything going offensively. In the 4th quarter, Bergan added one more score to put the Chants away on a 42-Yd touchdown pass to make the score 20-0. Coach Wells said, “We had a tremendous season and there is nothing to be ashamed of. We played tough and hard throughout the game. They have a tremendous team and are one of the fastest teams we have ever played. We have had a great year and run the last 4 years and we can continue this if we keep working hard and playing for each other. Thank you to everyone who supported us this year. Go Chanticleers!”
