The lady chants take 3rd in LouPlatte Conference and head into sub-districts as #2 seed in sub-district C1-11.
The lady chants continue to make positive strides in their season. As they continue down the road of their journey, Kaidence Wilson and Marin Reilly lead the Chants in kills, while Ali Miller and Britta Deden head the defensive front. “This team has worked hard throughout the year to not only work on their volleyball skills, but address what it means to be a tough and gritty team” says Coach Smith. Lexi Vancura, Maggie Fischer, Brooke Fox and Shaylee Jacobs round out a solid Chanticleer line-up.
The lady chants are excited for their post-season matches as they will head to Ainsworth on October 25th and 26th to get a chance to play in a district final match which will be held on Saturday, October 30th. Coach Smith states, “we need to take care of the ball and stay aggressive in all aspects, volleyball is such a fun and high tempo sport that we need to make sure we keep our composure and continue to be true to who we are as a program”. The lady chants had a great bounce back in the 3rd and 4th place match of the conference tournament defeating Ravenna and they continue to grow and show what they can do when the game is on the line.
It’s been exciting to see Shaylee Jacobs lead her team as a senior setter. She is a steady hand that we need to center this group and she continues to make great decisions and put our hitters in great positions to attack and earn points. Where the Chants really thrive is at the serving line. “we win rally’s 64% of the time when we are serving, so it will be a must-have for our team in post season to maintain our aggression at the serving line” shares Coach Smith, “our players are confident in this part of their game and it really shows how far they have come as competitors”. Coach Smith also expects some solid players to come off the bench to contribute in the post season. Bailey Setlik and Kaci Bruha have a very important role and they will come off the bench in both defensive and offensive situations for the chants. “We recognize that it takes a strong bench to develop great teams and our entire team continues to push each other harder and harder every day in practice and they are the reason we keep growing”. Says Coach Smith.
In the line-up for the Chants this week will be, setter, Shaylee Jacobs, middle blockers, Kaidence Wilson and Lexi Vancura, Outside hitters, Marin Reilly and Britta Deden, Rightside hitter, Maggie Fischer, and defensive specialist/setter, Brooke Fox. Also contributing will be, Journi Moran, Bailey Setlik and Kaci Bruha. Suiting up in addition is Anabel Zaruba, Shaylee Thomsen and Cecelia Wagner.
