On Monday, the Chant boys travelved to Wood River in the opening round of the Lou-Platte Conference Tournament. Wood River started fast out of the gate hitting three of their first five three’s to take a 16-5 lead after the first quarter. The Chants would rally starting what would be a 13-3 run in the 2nd quarter to cut the halftime deficit to one with Wood River leading 20-19. “We had a lot of chances to take the lead in the 2nd quarter and we just didn’t convert.”Coach Gates said. In the 3rd quarter, the Chants would take a one point lead before Wood River started a run of their own to extend the lead to seven after three quarters. “We did a good job of attacking to start the 3rd quarter but we just weren’t able to take advantage of it and that allowed them to build that lead on us. Gates added. The Eagles were then able to pull away for a 46-33 victory. The Chants were led by Quinton Ries with eight rebounds and ten points. Johnny DeRiso added eight points for the Chants.
