The Ord golf team performed well at last weeks events, bringing home hardware at both invites.
First, the Chants played in the Central City 3-man scramble. The invite was a three man scramble and Ord fielded a team in each of three divisions. The Division 1 team of Caden Lytle, Colt Meyer and Brody Blair was edged out of first by two strokes shooting a 65 to finish with a 3rd place medal. The Division 2 team of Landon Critel, Colton Thompson and Austin Stethem won their division by 6 strokes shooting 69. The Division 3 team of Deegan Nebesniak, Colt Bandiera and Barron Stunkel moved up to the 2nd division for competion and shot an 87.
On Wednesday, the O’Neill Invite was moved up from Thursday and the Chants took advantage. The team won the runner-up trophy in the 14 team meet, trailing only host O’Neill. The team shot a season-best 344. Landon Critel medaled 11th with an 84 and Caden Lytle shot 85 for 15th medal. Brody Blair just missed a medal with an 86 and Colt Meyer shot 89 and Austin Stethem 90.
Coach Mike Bechtold was pleased with the performance.
“While we still have much progress to be made, we got a little better this week and figured out some things we can do to be more consistent golfers. The relatively young team is on the right track and working hard to get to the next level.”
Ord travels to Kearney Catholic and Centura for invites next week.
