On Thursday, March 27, the reserve track team members competed in the first annual Anselmo-Merna track invitational. No team scores were kept for this meet, but medals were awarded to the top six finishers in each event. “This was a good meet for kids to compete in”, Coach Derry Trampe stated. “It gave them an opportunity to compete against other varsity teams in a meet that is a little smaller than the other meets we compete in. I was very pleased with the efforts of our kids and it was great to see them bring home some medals.”
Several medals were won by the boys that were entered in this meet. Bringing home a gold medal from the meet was Kyptan Scheideler in the pole vault. Kyptan won the event with a personal best jump of 9’ 0”. Nolan Woodward and Jacob Medina won fourth place medals for the Chants. Woodward earned his medal in the 1600 with a time of 6:00.83 and Medina ran 13:21.07 to bring home his medal in the 3200.
