It was sweet victory for the Chants boys on Valentine’s Night Friday night, as they took care of business against the O’Neill Eagles 73-49. The 73 points was a season high for the Ord boys.
Landon Critel led the way on offense with 20 points, while going 7-for-10 from the field, while Ord Senior Elijah Pollard dropped a double-double, finishing with 15 points and 11 rebounds. He led a very good night of rebounding for the Chanticleers.
When Ord Junior Critel scores at least 15 points in the game for Ord, The Ord boys are 4-2. They fall to 5-11 when he does not reach at least that 15-point performance.
Garret Severance added eight points and had this to say after the ballgame: “I think the key to our victory was our fast start. From that fast start, we were able to keep the momentum going through the entire game. We were able to hit some good shots, and that was able to carry us through.”
The victory pumped the Ord boys up to a 9-13 record, while the loss pushed the Eagles down to a 9-12 record. Both teams will finish the regular season at home on Friday, with the Chants hosting Ravenna, who comes in with a 15-game losing streak. O’Neill will welcome Battle Creek, who has lost three straight coming into that matchup.
