Valentine’s Night Friday at home, the Ord girls were not able to break out of their losing ways, dropping the matchup with the O’Neill Eagles, 52-46 leading to broken hearts in the Chant locker room. The game was payback for the Chanticleers defeating the Eagles last year in February, and was Ord’s third straight loss, dropping the lady Chants to a 16-7 record for the 2024-2025 regular season.
Hannah Hilker led the way for the Eagles, scoring 17 points, while adding five steals. Hilker was also deadly from behind the three-point line, shooting 67% for threes, her highest percentage totals since January of 2024.
Ord Senior Claire Cargill had this to say after Friday Night’s matchup. “Our team played well tonight. Even though we came out with the loss, I thought that our intensity was there the entire game. As a team, we face a lot of hard competition throughout the year, and tonight we faced a tough team.”
Cargill, focusing on the post season continued: “We come to the gym everyday wanting to get better, and I’m excited to show what we have been working on all season next week at subdistricts. As a senior, and this being my last home game, it means the world to me what my coaches and teammates have done to make our team successful!”
Ord needs to get things together as the C2-4 Subdistricts get underway for the girls against 16-6 West Holt on Tuesday night.
