A very common sound that was heard Friday night in this Lou Platte Conference girls game was the whistle blown by the official, followed by two thumbs up and the words “jump ball” that followed.  In this game, there were nineteen jump balls.  This writer heard it said in passing that the officials probably got carpel tunnel syndrome from having to hold their thumbs up signaling the jump ball so many times on the night.

When the play wasn’t stopped, there was some good basketball being played. Claire Cargill had another solid night, leading the way in points scored with fourteen, while going perfect from the free throw line.  Olivia Lange added to the Chanticleer scoring by putting up nine points.  Jamie Vavra also added eight points to the final board.

The Wildcats did not have high numbers to start with and had sickness going through the team.  Usual strong and solid starting player Charlee Wegner was scratched as a starter due to sickness.  She got in the game, but only scored 2 points, and didn’t look like herself Friday night.  The Wildcats were led in scoring by Aubree Fitzgerald with eleven points.

Again, it was a night for the Chants when every girls player got playing time, as the game got out of reach against the outmatched St. Paul girls.  The win was the fourth in a row for the Lady Chants, and moves them to 8-5 on the season.  The loss moves the St. Paul Wildcats to 5-9.
