A message from the Superintendent:
Out of an abundance of caution and as part of our ongoing commitment toward safety and security, we are informing our stakeholders about a cyber security incident. Districts were informed on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 via email that PowerSchool, a global student information system provider used by our school district and many others across the country, was the target of a cybersecurity incident discovered on Saturday, December 28, 2024. We have been informed that some student data from our district and other districts was downloaded by an unauthorized user. PowerSchool has reassured Ord Public Schools that information has not been compromised and all information is secure and not shared outside of the breach. Furthermore, Ord Public Schools does not store social security numbers or financial information in their database.
PowerSchool has informed schools the situation has been contained, and they have taken actions to prevent the information from being used. PowerSchool has reassured schools that information has not been compromised and all information is secure and not shared outside of the breach.
Sincerely,
Dr. Heather Nebesniak, Superintendent
