On Tuesday the Chant boys traveled on the road to take on the C-1 top five Cozad Haymakers. The game started out as an offensive bonanza with each team trading buckets at a fast pace the score after the 1st quarter was 25-18 with Cozad in front. The game would stay there till a late 7-0 run would give the Haymakers a 13 point lead at the break. “We missed a few opportunities to cut that score down before half and that allowed them to get some separation from us.” Coach Gates said after the game. The Chants would never be able to get the deficit under ten and the Haymakers would pull away for a 76-57 victory. “We did a lot of good things against a very good team tonight. Now we have to take those lessons going forward.” Coach Gates would say after the game. Elijah Pollard led the Chants with 23 points. Garret Severance would add eleven and Jordan Williams would add ten for the Chants. 

On Friday, the Chants returned home for their first home game since the middle of December to take on the Gibbon Buffaloes. The game started off with a 5-0 run by Gibbon that would be the last time the Buffalos would lead. The Chants would end up taking a 12-9 lead after the 1st quarter. In the 2nd quarter the Chant defense and offense would come alive and a lay up by Maddox Bennett in the last 10 seconds of the half would give the Chants a fifteen point lead into the break. “We really stepped up in the 2nd quarter, we really finished the quarter strong and our depth really helped us push that lead before half.” Coach Gates said after the game. In the 2nd half the Chants would pull away from the Buffalos and gain a 60-33 victory. After the game Coach Gates said “Give our guys credit for executing a defense plan and that helped create some offense for us.” The Chants were led by Landon Critel with twelve points. Elijah Pollard added eleven points and seven rebounds. Will Lange added nine points in the win. Jordan Williams added six points plus seven assists in the win. The Chants will host Riverside on Monday before hosting St. Paul on Friday.
