The Chants traveled to North Bend for their holiday tournament. On Thursday night the Chants played Humphrey/Lindsey Holy Family. The Chants jumped out to a 17-13 lead after the 1st quarter. Followed that by winning the 2nd quarter by five. In the 2nd half, the Chants would continue to pull away from the Bulldogs.”Our defense carried us in the 2nd half and created offense for us.” Coach Gates said after the game. Elijah Pollard led the Chants with 18 points. Blake Hinrichs added 15 points and eight rebounds for the Chants. Talan Bruha had nine points and six rebounds. In the Championship game, the Chants played North Bend. The game started well for the Chants and ended the 1st quarter with a two-point lead after the Tigers hit a buzzing beating three. The Tigers would take a six-point lead into the half after a run in the middle of the 2nd quarter. “We had a chance in the 1st half to cut into that lead and just missed those opportunities.” Coach Gates said after the game. In the 3rd quarter, the pace of the game slowed and North Bend was able to creep away from the Chants. North Bend would then shoot very well in the 4th quarter on their way to an almost 50% average from three for the night. Giving the Tigers a 63-43 victory over the Chants. Colton Thompson and Jordan Williams led the Chants with nine points. Blake Hinrichs added eight points and eight rebounds. The Chants will host undefeated Cozad on Tuesday before traveling to Gibbon on Friday Night.
