Ord - On a beautiful fall evening for C2 Semi-Final Football the Ord Chanticleers hosted the Yutan Chieftans for the first time in school history. The Chanticleers won the toss and elected to defer until the second half. The Chants kicked off to the Cheiftans and on the second play from scrimmage the Chant defense forced a fumble and Dylan Hurlburt recovered. On the next play, Trent McCain ran it in for 19 yard touchdown. From then on it was a defensive struggle throughout the rest of the half until the end of the second quarter. The Chants mounted a drive in the final minutes of the first half and Dylan Hurlburt scored on a 2 yard run. The Chants would take the momentum into the half with a 14-0 lead. At the start of the second half, the Chants received the kickoff. A couple of plays later, Dylan Hurlburt found a wide open Blake Hinrichs for a 65 yard touchdown reception to make the score 21-0. To the Chieftans credit on the next drive, they ripped off a big run to put them into scoring position and a couple plays later, answered with a 21 yard pass and catch. The Chants scored two more times in the third quarter put the game away. Dylan Hurlburt connected with Aidan Ryschon for a 34 yard touchdown pass and catch, and Trent McCain ripped off a 50 yard touchdown run. The final was Ord 35, Yutan 7. The Chants Coach Wells commented after the game, “What an awesome evening, so proud of our players, coaches, and everyone that supports our program. It was an electric atmosphere. The crowd was incredible. Thanks to everyone that came out and supported our special team. Our kids earned the right to play in the State Championship game. They work extremely hard, have a special bond with each other, are just great character kids, and play a physical style football. We have one more game to accomplish our goal.” Ord will play for the State Championship against Norfolk Catholic at 2:45 PM on Nov. 21st. Go Chanticleers!
