Amherst - The Ord Chanticleers were on the road to take on the Amherst Broncos. The Chants got off to a fast start scoring 21 points in the first quarter and playing suffocating defense. Aidan Ryschon caught a touchdown pass from Dylan Hurlburt to for the first score. Dylan Hurlburt scored on a 59 yard run for the second score, and Aidan Ryschon scored on a 31 yard touchdown run. The score at the end of the first quarter was 21-0. The Chants were able to move the ball at will in the second also but were unable to punch it in the endzone a couple of drives. They were able to score once in the quarter when Dylan Hurlburt scored on a 46 yard run. It was 28-0 Chanticleers at the half. In the third quarter, Trent McCain scored on a 29 yard run to make it 35-0 at the end of three quarters. On the first play of the fourth quarter Trent McCain scored on a 1 yard run. The second units for the Chants played the entire fourth quarter and were able to hold the Broncos out of the endzone and were able to score once when Jordan Williams scored on a 3 yard run. Coach Wells commented after the game, “We got off to a great start and had an excellent first quarter. We let off the gas and had a few mistakes in the second quarter. Overall, we are really starting to play well in all three phases of the game and you can feel the momentum that we are gaining as a team. Confidence is such a big part of football.” The Chanticleers will be at home this week to play the Kearney Catholic Stars for Homecoming. Come out and support your Chanticleers.
