ORD, Neb. - Ord Public Schools (OPS), has welcomed several new staff members to both the elementary and high school for the 2023-24 school year.
Sarah Norseen will be teaching art at Ord High School this school year. She grew up in Rockville, NE. She attended the University of Nebraska-Kearney where she earned her BA in Early Childhood Unified, K-6 Mild/Moderate Special Education, and PK-12 Art Education. She completed her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University and graduated in May of 2016. Sarah has been in education for twelve years. She previously has taught for Loup City Public Schools and Kearney Public Schools. She currently resides in Loup City with her husband Kyle and two sons, Bowen and Maverick. She enjoys being outdoors on the farm, creating art, reading, concerts, and spending time with family and friends. Sarah is excited to share her love of art with students and be part of the Chanticleer family!
Dante Schmit will be teaching math at OHS. He grew up in the small town of Osmond, NE where he graduated high school. Dante then went on to Wayne State College where he got his degree in Secondary Education with an endorsement in mathematics. At Wayne State College, Dante served as a supplemental instructor where he assisted students in general education math classes. He then went on to take his first teaching position at Cedar Catholic High School where he taught math and coached junior high and high school football, junior high and high school wrestling, and junior high track. Dante enjoys golfing, husker football, and spending time with his family and friends. He is excited for the school year and looks forward to building relationships with parents, staff, and the students at Ord High School.
Lindsay Brown is eager to be joining the Ord Public School system as the elementary secretary! Lindsay comes to us from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She first moved to North Platte in 2019 for work and when her project moved to the Burwell area she began living in Ord in 2020. This is when she met her husband Tom Brown and their two daughters Adren and Quinci. Lindsay’s background in education and work is in environmental sciences and indigenous studies. She enjoys any outside activity anytime of the year. She is excited to begin a new job in the school system and is looking forward to getting to know the community and its members better.
Rachelle Wright is the new Technology teacher at Ord High School. She has been a para for special education at Burwell High School while working on her teaching degree. She earned her teaching degree from Fort Hays State University in Kansas with an endorsement in Business and Information Technologies. Originally from the Burwell area, Rachelle is involved in many local activities. In her free time she likes to garden. Rachelle has three kids that attend Burwell Public Schools, that are involved in many different activities and a lot of time is spent going to their events. She is looking forward to the new challenges of teaching a new group of students and a variety of classes.
