The Ord High School track and field teams both finished in third place at the annual West Holt Invitational last Thursday. “I thought we competed well for the most part in this meet”, Coach Derry Trampe commented. “We had some good performances and personal best marks, but we had some areas where we could have done a little better. We looked a little tired from the season as we headed into the later part of the meet. We will start to back down in practice over the next few weeks to get our legs back under us as we head into the conference and district meets.” The girls scored 68.5 points to claim their spot in the seven team field. West Holt won the meet with 143 points while Battle Creek was a close second with 141 points. Rounding out the team scoring were Sandhills/Thedford (65), Ainsworth (51.5), North Central (50), and Valentine (3). The Chanticleer boys scored 105.5 points for their third-place finish. Battle Creek ran away with the team title with 164.5 points while West Holt was the runner up with 120 points. Rounding out the team scoring were North Central (46), Valentine (45), Ainsworth (24), and Sandhills/Thedford (13).
Bringing home individual gold medals from the meet were Owen Lane, Blake Hinrichs, and Colton Thompson. Lane won the 800-meter run in a time of 2:05.28 while Hinrichs and Thompson won their medals in the field events. Hinrichs won the triple jump with a personal best jump of 40’ 6” and Thompson won the high jump with a personal best jump of 5’ 11”. Also bringing home a gold medal from the meet was the 4 X 800 relay team of Garret Severance, Elijah Pollard, Jace Geiser, and Owen Lane with a season best time of 8:42.08. Second place awards went to Hayden Kluthe in the 110 HH (15.51) and 300 IH hurdles (PB 41.70) and Gage Kolar in the pole vault (10’ 7”). The freshmen 4 X 100 relay team of Jeter Sanders, Kaden Tomjack, Kevin Brewer, and Elliott Baker also finished second in a time of 57.71. Sam Boettcher added a pair of third place finishes in the shot put (42’ 9”) and discus (138’ 2”). The 4 X 400 relay team of Owen Lane, Blake Hinrichs, Jace Geiser, and Hayden Kluthe combined to finish third in 3:44.36. The 4 X 800 relay team of Gunner Rice, Masaki Arisawa, Levi Klein, and Easton Ryschon also finished in third place with a time of 9:23.90. Fourth place medals were won by Owen Lane in the 400 (54.64), Garret Severance in the 1600 (4:56.17), Gunner Rice in the 3200 (11:21.57), Trent McCain in the shot put (40’ 4.75”), and the 4 X 100 throwers relay team of Sam Boettcher, Colt Meyer, Jed Boettcher, and Cainan Rogers. Fifth place awards were won by Elijah Pollard in the 1600 (PB 5:00.82), Jed Boettcher in the discus (127’ 8”), the 4 X 100 relay team of Dylan Hurlburt, Cainan Rogers, Sam Boettcher, and Jace Geiser (48.38), and the 4 X 400 relay team of Garret Severance, Levi Klein, Elijah Pollard, and Easton Ryschon (3:53.32). Elliott Baker finished sixth in the pole vault (9’ 1”) and Blake Hinrichs placed sixth in the high jump (5’ 1”).
Marin Reilly was the lone gold medalist for the girls as she won the discus with a personal best toss of 111’ 1”. The lone second place finish for the team came from the freshmen 4 X 100 relay team of Addy Stethem, Aracely Negrete, Jamie Vavra, and Tiara Thomsen (60.39). Third place awards went to Maggie Fischer in the 400 (65.58), Trinity Chatfield in the high jump (PB 4’ 11”), the 4 X 100 relay team of Lexi Vancura, Britta Deden, Marin Reilly, and Natalie Williams (53.28), the 4 X 400 relay team of Maggie Fischer, Marin Reilly, Claire Cargill, and Natalie Williams (4:33.35), and the 4 X 100 throwers relay team of Savannah Jacobs, Lillie Shoemaker, Jenna Deden, and Bailey Setlik (63.73). Fourth place medals were won by Piper Whited in the 1600 (6:27.51), Izzy Jeffres in the 3200 (PB 14:15.63), Britta Deden in the 100 HH (16.83), Marin Reilly in the shot put (34’ 11”), Lexi Vancura in the triple jump (32’ 10.75”), Brookelynn Fox in the pole vault (8’ 2”), and the 4 X 800 relay team of Piper Whited, Addi Blaha, Jamie Vavra, and Izzy Jeffres (12:35.17). Claire Cargill added a fifth-place finish in the 400 with a time of 68.29. Sixth place awards went to Natalie Williams in the 200 (28.50) and long jump (14’ 7”), Jocelyn Hinrichs in the 100 HH (17.87), and Kaidence Wilson in the high jump (4’ 7”).
