The Ord High School 9/10 track teams hosted their annual invitational on Monday, April 17. The young Chanticleers finished second in the girl’s division with 77 points while the boys were third with 84.5 points. “I thought our kids competed really well in this meet”, Coach Derry Trampe stated. “We had a lot of personal best marks in this meet and our kids really competed well. We are starting to have our best performances at the right time of the season.” Boone Central won the girl’s meet with 123 points while Centura was third with 61 points. Rounding out the scoring in the team race were: Broken Bow (52), Ravenna (44), Central City (44), St. Paul (40), Grand Island CC (33), Aurora (28), Cross County (0). Boone Central won the boys division with 181 points to sweep the team titles. St. Paul finished as the runner-up with 98.5 points. Rounding out the team standings were: Broken Bow (50), Central City (40), Grand Island CC (22), Aurora (11), Centura (10), Ravenna (2), Cross County (0).
Winning gold medals for the girls were Natalie Williams and Trinity Chatfield. Williams won the long jump with a leap of 15’ 7.75” while Chatfield won the high jump with a jump of 4’ 10”. Chatfield’s jump tied the meet record. Second place medals were won by Natalie Williams in the 200 (PB 28.11), Trinity Chatfield in the 300 LH (PB 56.72), Lillie Shoemaker in the shot put (31’ 6.5”), and the 4 X 400 relay team of Natalie Williams, Tiara Thomsen, Trinity Chatfield, and Izzy Jeffres (4:41.81). Izzy Jeffres added a third place finish in the 800 with a personal best time of 2:44.91. Fourth place points were scored by Tiara Thomsen in the 100 HH (PB 19.41), Jamie Vavra in the high jump (4’ 6”), Addi Blaha in the pole vault (PB 7’ 6”), and the 4 X 100 relay team of Aracely Negrete, Jamie Vavra, Lillie Shoemaker, and Tiara Thomsen (59.51). Fifth place points were scored by Natalie Williams in the 100 (PB 13.73) and sixth place points were scored by Trinity Chatfield in the 100 HH (PB 19.98).
Jed Boettcher was a double gold medalist as he won both the shot put (PB 40’11”) and discus (125’ 3”). Colton Thompson added a gold medal finish in the high jump with a jump of 5’ 8”. The 4 X 800 relay team of Masaki Arisawa, Gunner Rice, Maddox Bennett, and Grady Moudry also brought home a gold medal in a time of 9:30.02. Second place medals were won by Grady Moudry in the 3200 (12:00.60) and the 4 X 400 relay team of Colton Thompson, Levi Klein, Masaki Arisawa, and Easton Ryschon (3:52.90). Colton Thompson added a third place medal in the long jump with a leap of 18’ 5.5”. Fourth place awards went to Easton Ryschon in the 800 (2:17.24), Masaki Arisawa in the 1600 (5:16.01), Colton Thompson in the 300 IH (46.97), and Gage Kolar in the pole vault (10’ 6”). Scoring fifth place points were Skyler Probst in the 3200 (PB 12:55.98) and Easton Ryschon in the high jump (5’ 0”). Sixth place awards went to Gunner Rice in the 800 (PB 2:19.70), Elliott Baker in the pole vault (9’ 0”), and the 4 x 100 relay team of Easton Ryschon, Levi Klein, Grady Moudry, and Maddox Bennett (51.16).
