The Ord High School track and field teams had another successful outing as both the girls and boys’ teams came home with runner-up finishes at the annual O’Neill Invitational.  On a day that was unusually warm and windy for the meet the Chanticleer girls scored 81 points to finish just 14 points behind Norfolk Catholic for the team championship.  Norfolk Catholic score 95 points to claim the title.  The boys scored 80 points to finish in second place well behind the team from Norfolk Catholic.  Norfolk Catholic dominated the meet by scoring 125 points to take home the title.  “I was very pleased with the way our kids performed in this meet”, Coach Derry Trampe stated.  “We had several top finishes in events to score a lot of points, but we also scored a lot of points with 4th, 5th, and 6th place finishes.  This was a big meet with a lot of participants, so the points were spread out over several teams.  Anytime you can finish in the top two or three in the team standings, you have got to be pleased with the efforts of your team.  I was especially happy with the fact that we had 38 personal best performances on the day.”  Rounding out the team scoring for the girls were: Summerland (55), O’Neill (53), Ainsworth (47), St. Mary’s (39), Humphrey St. Francis (37), Elkhorn Valley (31), Boyd County (28), North Central (26), Bloomfield (18), Wausa (10), Valentine (5), CWC (1), Elgin Public/Pope John (1).
