The high school track and field teams came away with the team championships at the ALC Rebel Invitational this last Thursday in Loup City. The girls won the team title with 124.5 points and finished 12 points ahead of Grand Island CC (112.5). “Our girls scored a lot of points in the meet, and we did it with a lot of 3rd, 4th, and 5th place finishes”, Coach Derry Trampe stated. “We have a lot of girls out this season and that gives us a lot of depth. In a meet where they place and score eight places, that gives you an opportunity to score a lot of points. We felt pretty good about winning the meet but we know we have places where we could have scored a few more points and we will continue to work to get better all season.” Rounding out the team scoring were: Central Valley (93.5), Arcadia-Loup City (88), St. Paul (71), Riverside (58), Ravenna (44), Kenesaw (36), Ansley-Litchfield (24), and St. Edward (0).
The boys ran away with the team title with 141.5 points, which was 26.5 points ahead of Riverside (115). “We have two very good teams this year with a lot of depth on both teams”, Coach Trampe noted. “Our boys had a lot of quality points in the meet with several first and second place finishes on the day. Combine that with the depth we have, and it results in a big win. We have a chance to be a pretty good team this year as long as we keep improving and stay healthy.” Rounding out the team scoring were: St. Paul (113), Grand Island CC (57), Ansley-Litchfield (56.5), Arcadia-Loup City (55.5), Central Valley (53.5), Kenesaw (49), Ravenna (10), and St. Edward (7).
