The high school track and field teams got their season off to a start this past Saturday at the annual UNK indoor track and field meet in Kearney.  No team scores are kept for this meet but the Chants had several great performances and brought home a lot of medals.  “I felt really good about the way we competed in this meet”, Coach Derry Trampe commented.  “We have the personnel to have very good teams this season.  We have several different events where we have quality athletes and then have a lot of depth.  This will make us a successful team this year.”

Lexi Vancura and Marin Reilly earned first place medals in the meet.  Vancura finished first in the triple jump with a leap of 33’ 5” and Reilly was first in the shot put with a toss of 34’ 9.25”.  Second place medals went to Lillie Shoemaker in the shot put with a toss of 30’ 5.5”, Lexi Vancura in the long jump with a jump of 16’ 0”, Jocelyn Hinrichs in the triple jump with a leap of 31’ 3.5”, Trinity Chatfield in the high jump with a jump of 4’ 8”, and Brookelynn Fox in the pole vault with a vault of 8’ 6”. Bringing home third place medals were Kaidence Wilson in the high jump (4’ 6”), Addi Blaha in the pole vault (7’ 0”), and the 4 X 400 relay team of Maggie Fischer, Kaci Bruha, Izzy Jeffres, and Claire Cargill (4:40.06).  Fourth place medals went to Skyler Kokes in the 3200 (15:25.78), Jocelyn Hinrichs in the 55 HH (10.40/10.30), and Bailey Setlik in the shot put (Personal Best of 30’ 5.5”). Fifth place medals were won by Shaylee Thomsen in the long jump (13’ 10”) and Azia Giron in the triple jump (30’ 1”).  Adding a sixth place medal was Tiara Thomsen in the 55 HH with times of 10.93 and 11.14.

Bringing home first place medals for the boys were Hayden Kluthe in the 55 HH (8.20), Blake Hinrichs in the long jump (Personal Best of 20’ 7”), Gage Kolar in the pole vault (10’ 0”), and the 4 X 800 relay team of Owen Lane, Elijah Pollard, Jace Geiser, and Garret Severance (9:07.62).  Second place medals were won by Owen Lane in the 400 (53.41) and Blake Hinrichs in the triple jump (39’ 9”).  Earning third place medals were Garret Severance in the 1600 (5:12.62), Brodie Klimek in the 3200 (12:03.59), Colton Thompson in the 55 HH (9.92), Sam Boettcher in the shot put (44’ 11”), and the 4 X 400 relay team of Owen Lane, Blake Hinrichs, Jace Geiser, and Hayden Kluthe (3:49.04).  Adding fourth place medals were Blake Hinrichs in the high jump (5’ 8”) and Elliot Baker in the pole vault (Personal Best of 8’ 6”).  Sixth place medals went to Elijah Pollard in the 1600 (5:15.08) and Colton Thompson in the long jump (18’ 4.5”).
