The Chants took on St. Paul in the 1st round of the C-1-10 sub-district at Centura. The game started off much better for the Chants compared to the 1st time the teams met with St. Paul taking a 4-point lead after the 1st quarter. The 2nd quarter was a back-and-forth battle till a late 6-0 run by St. Paul opened the lead up to eleven before the half. “We had a little stretch where they took advantage of some turnovers, allowing them to grow their lead.” Coach Gates said. By the end of the 3rd, the Chants would cut the lead to single digits but could not get any closer than six in the 2nd half. The Wildcats would close out the Chants and win 44-27. The Chants were led by Blake Hinrichs with 15 points and eight rebounds. “We played well enough to win tonight. Our shots just didn’t fall and that’s all you can ask for when you get to the postseason.” Coach Gates said after the game. “There is a lot to build going into next year for this team and I would like to thank everyone who came out and supported this team all season from the parents, students, and fans.” The Chants finished the season 6-16 and it was the last appearance for Owen Lane, Jaden Sanders, and Masaki Arasawa.
